1. Pangong Tso Lake
In one place, heaven, peace, silence, quiet? Come to Pangong Lake and spend a few hours! In Ladakh there is the pristine place with its subtle to high peaks, crystal-blue waters, and its vast sprawl, as long as a magic happens directly in front of the eyes.
Pangong Lake is calmly situated at an astonishing altitude of 14.270 feet, also known as Pangong Tso. The 12 km long lake marks its distance between India and China’s laps. Interestingly enough. Instead, the next country accounts for 60% of the portion and all travelers are excited about this.
Remember the “3 Idiots” film on the lake? Well, in Leh Ladakh this is Pangong Tso Lake. A photographer’s delight is the crystal-blue water of the lake with the surrounding landscape of bare mountain peaks.
In the winter time, however, the lake freezes and its surface attracts tourists. The lake breeds migratory birds, and camping is an exciting activity around the lake.
2. Shanti Stupa
Shanti Stupa’s impressive white structure and dome are the most visible landmarks of Leh Ladakh. Built to commemorate 2500 years of Buddhism and promote world peace by the Japanese and Ladakhi Buddhists.
The white surface looks great during the day, but it looks more beautiful when it’s bathed in the soft glow of the moon rays in full moon nights. Within the Stupa, tourists can experience the joys of meditation and see the magnificent views of sunrise and setting.
3. Tso Moriri Lake
Tso Moriri Lake is India’s largest alpine lake compared to the other lakes in Leh-Ladakh. The remote location, harsh weather and rough roads make this lake less visited by tourists.
The lake with its blue wats, mountain scenery and open sky is a beauty to behold. Camping here is a must-do activity near the lake, sleeping under a starry night sky.
4. Leh Palace
Leh Palace was built in the 17th century and is a wonderful example of Tibetan medieval design and architecture. Leh Palace’s ingenious structure makes the interior cool during cold days and the sparkling summer heat. There are hallways, wide halls and rooms inside. Indoor.
The surrounding country from the top you can have a good view. While now in ruins, it is Leh Ladakh’s most popular monument.
5. Khardung La Pass
The highest motorway for bike trips in India is this mountain pass in Ladakh. Although in modern times people have learned about Khardung La Pass, it used to be part of an ancient caravan route and transported goods in Central Asia from Leh.
Its uniqueness makes it a place to spend mountain bicycles. The traffic falls rocks, melting snow, mud and craters make it a driver’s odds. It’s also the worst roads to drive.
6. Magnetic Hill
The mountain is known to defy seriousness by cars and go up the mountain when stationed at a marked place. Even if the truth or illusion is not certain, this hill attracts tourists to see the unusual show.
During a raid on Leh’s barren streets, there is a sign that indicates “Magnetic Hill- The Phenomenon, which Defies Gravity.” A white box with the mark ‘Park your car Here’ is placed in front of the board, in which you can park your cars in neutral condition and watch them go uphill against gravity at a speed of 10-20km/h.
Every month, this phenomenon is a sensation that attracts hundreds. You can see them enjoying and throwing behind them different facts and theories. This little stretch is a perfect stop to record videos, click on photos and rest.
7. Nubra Valley
A deep gorge created by the combining effects of Shyok and Nubra (Siachen) rivers is one of the most beautiful parts of the luna of Ladakh, Nubra Valley. In fact, the Nubra valley is the high-altitude cold desert and extends up to the Ladakh Plateau (Qing-Zang plateau) in China. The Ladakh Range is separate from the Karakoram Range in this plateau valley.
You have to head toward Nubra Valley if you want to watch the true splendor of Leh Ladakh. Nourished by the waters of the Nubra and Shyok Rivers, this fertile valley has lovely aple orchards, picturesque countryside and colorful Buddhist monasteries. The wide dune of sand in the cold desert gives the landscape a surreal feel.
8. Namgyal Tsemo Gompa
Visiting Namgyal Tsemo Gompa can be a great spiritual and visual experience for tourists. Constructed at the top of a rocky hill in the 15th century, the monastery offers an impressive view of the snow-covered Zanskar and the Indus.
The monastery is known for the Maitreya Buddha’s three-story high golden statue. With its Tibetan architecture, frescoes and wall paintings within the monastery, the monastery is a beauty to look upon.
9. Spituk Monastery
The Spituk Monastery in Leh-Ladakh was built in the 11th century. It has Lord Buddha’s deity, antique paintings, festival masks, and Goddess Kali’s idol.
The annual Spituk Festival is a colorful occasion in which the Kali’s idol is revealed and the monks masked dance with prayer. The monastery offers a lovely panorama of the village of Spituk and the mountains.
10. Hall of Fame Museum
In remembrance of the soldiers who laid down their lives in the Kargil and Siachen glacial wars of Indo-Pakistan, the Hall of Fame Museum was built.
Maintained by the Indian Armed Forces, the museum contains confiscated arms and weapons, biographies of valiant soldiers, uniforms and other items relating to the Indian Army. Besides many other things, you can get to know the Ladakhi culture and wildlife of the area.
